(Via Tom) Apparently, because this event isn’t “positive”–whatever that means. Every once in a while, a bunch of musicians in Richmond Hill, Ontario, get together for an open mic jam. This is not a joke.”
The CBC provided this copy of the voicemail. So what’s the big deal about calling something after Ward 5? Read the full story at the CBC. She insists that the jam change their name because only she can use the term “Ward 5.”
Steffi Goodfield and Matt Bergman, the organizers of the Ward 5 Jam, received a voicemail form Cilevitz that said “If Matt Bergman and you in any way name your event — which does not have my sponsorship or my authority — as the Ward 5 Jam … I will take legal action against both of you. This is not sitting well with Karen Cilevitz, the Ward 5 councilor. Because they’re in the town’s Ward 5 (as in the political division), they call their event the Ward 5 Jam.
